LOCATION
CGIM 2003 will take place in the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel
in Honolulu on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Historically,
Waikiki was the playground of the Hawaiian ali'i (nobility),
and it has since become the most famous strip of beach
in the world, ringed with high-rise hotels and accessible
to middle-class travelers. Waikiki Beach is actually a
string of beaches stretching two and half miles along
the pacific ocean. The soft sand bottom and turquoise
waters make it an attractive spot for swimmers, surfers,
and other water enthusiasts. The city of Honolulu itself
is the commercial and government center for Hawaii. It
is filled with many fine restaurants, shopping centers,
and cultural and historical attractions. Other nearby
attractions include Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head Crater,
and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
